Analysis of perfume advert

The purpose of this perfume advert is to get the people that buy the magazine to buy the perfume. This advert appeared in glamour magazine November 2011. The reason that they put this perfume advert in glamour magazine is because of the fact that it is for one a glamourous magazine hence the name of it but also have a 94% female audience in the magazine. This means that if they put the advert into a magazine such as this then they are going to get the information other to the audience quicker than if they put it into a magazine that is read by 50% men and 50% women then they are less likely to get as many sales as what they will get by putting it in a magazine such as this. The other reason that they put this advert into this magazine is due to the fact that the target audience for the magazine is the same as what the target audience for the perfume is. This target audience is 18- 49 year old women. The reason that you can tell that this is the target audience is due to the style of the advert. If they where trying to reach out to a younger target audience then they would use brighter colors as to catch their attention and keep it on the advert. You can also tell that this is the target audience due to the style of the advert i.e. the way that this advert makes out that if you buy this perfume then you will be like this girl.

The bottle is in the shape of an apple which is the style that they use for all of the DKNY perfume. You know that the bottle is in this shape as it is advertised on top of a big pile of apples. This  of the bottle is used is because people look at the bottle and think that the perfume is going to smell as sweet as what an apple does. This advert also makes the apples look really nice and irresistible. This makes you want to buy the perfume so that then you can smell as sweet as the apples look. This is a persuasive devise that the perfume advert uses. The model that they have chosen to use on this perfume advert is not a celebrity, the model that they have chosen to use is not perfect like you would imagine a model to be. This company have decided to use a model that has a gap in her front teeth, the company uses this to their advantage and uses it as a way of selling the product to a wider audience than they are first of all targeting. The reason that they use this is because it puts across this message that even though the model is not perfect the product still looks amazing and will smell fantastic. This puts this impression across to the audience that you may not be perfect but this product will make you feel and look amazing anyway. They use this particular model because she has the long blond hair and perfect skin that has no imperfection, but she has this relay obvious eye catching thing that is wrong with her. The advert emphasis this by having your attention drawn to this due to the fact that she is eating the apple. The body language used by the model in this advert gives you this impression that if you brought this product then you would feel really confident within your self due to this perfume. The way that the model has this eye contact with the audience gives you this impression that the perfume will make you feel seductive, this is shown both by the way that her eye contact is so predominant within the advert as well as the way that she has this apple in her hand, this apple in her hand makes you feel like the perfume is irresistible due to the fact that the bottle is the same shape as this apple. The colors that are used within the advert are golds, as well as this the actual name of the product is "golden DELICIOUS" these colors give you this impression of wealth and riches. This makes you feel that by having this product you will feel wealthy as well as giving you this impression that because of the wealth that is linked with the perfume you will also feel really important as you where able to get and afford the perfume. This will give you this overwhelming feeling of success. The lighting on the front side of the perfume add is mainly on the model, this is quite dramatic lighting around her which takes you attention strait there. Therefore strait away making you think that you want to be as confident as what she seems. However of the back of the perfume advert all of the lighting is on the bottle and the apples around it this makes you want to buy it due to the fact that you want to smell as sweet an irresistible as what these apples seem. This product dose not have a slogan linked with it the only real text that is on the product is the name, This is "Golden DELICIOUS" golden is the name of the specific product and delicious is their brand name. This name of golden adds to the feeling of wealth that i have discussed above. The font that has been used gives this feeling again of money and that this product is special and will make you feel fantastic and special. This isn't written very big due to the fact that they want all of the emphasis on the image and how that makes you feel. The word DELICIOUS is alot larger and in capital's due to the fact that this is there brand name. Therefore they are trying to get peoples attention by making it obvious that this is one of their products.
An eye level angle is used in this perfume advert, this is used so that you can see what she is doing and get more of a picture of what it is trying to tell you. This is effectively done on this perfume advert due to the fact that you get this full image of the imperfection and the affect that this has on the poster. The brand name being DELICIOUS gives you this feeling strait away that this perfume is doing to smell delicious as this is how they are marketing their whole brand. This strait away gives you this feeling that you want this perfume as you want to smell delicious.
"

The format for the perfume advert is that there is a front and a back page of the same page on the front page is the main advert and the back page has a pull out sample of the perfume so that you can see what it smells like before you buy it.

Analysis of Digipak Brit Awards 2012

The Digipak that i will be analysing is the Brit awards 2012 album. This is an album that has all of the artists songs that won awards at the events songs on it. This is a three disc album that has two normal disc's and then  a bonus disc with extra songs on it. This Digipak comes with a booklet that has a list of the songs on each disk like the back of the digipak, however this includes who helped to create the song, when it was produced and what company produced it. The booklet also explains who the money raised through ticket sales and merchandise goes to, in this case it is the brit trust. The booklet explains who they are and what the money does. This has an image of Rizzle Kicks with the cheque for the brit trust after 2012's brit awards. By having this information in the booklet it means that people really understand where there money goes after they have brought the album. You can see images of this booklet below.

This digipak has the bac and the front page and then opens out once and then again from both sides this means that when it is fully opena it is made up of four squares. The first square has the booklet stored inside and then images of the awards on it. The next three squares have CDs in them in a wallet style on the slit they go into there is again a list of the songs and who sings then. This is at the bottom of each one in relation to the disc. These three disks are in each color of the union jack. This is a theme throughout the CD case as it is the BRIT awards album, therefore it is all about britian this could have also been emphasised thiis year due to the fact that we have the olypics coming to London this year. Therefore they have used the fact that it is called the BRIT awards to there advantage hoping that this will sell it more when we have tourists coming to London for the olypics. They have used the award that is presented in the actual award evening as a theme on this Digipak, If someone did not now about the award evening then they would not understand what this item is. However this is not something that would put anyone off buying the digipak as it is just an image used not anything of sinificance. This image is used on each of the CDs, on the cover, side and on one of the four squares when it is fully folded out. This image is illistratively done which adds to the affcedct of the digipak as it does look very computerly done due to the stly of the colors used. Therefore it would not have looked right if the images wher photographically done. This is the main image used in the Digipak and is repeated many times like i have said earlier. The over main theme ttnhroughout the Digipak is the colors of the union jack flag as shown to the side. This is a theme due to the fact that the olypics are coming to us this year so they are trying to use this as a selling point of the digipak. As tourists will want is as it is a realy british thing.

The text on the front of the digipack is very bold this is because they are trying to sell the CD by saying the artists that are featuring on the CD therefore is they had this in lower case in the right corner then you are likely not to read it. However they have it in Capitals quite large on the left side of the album case as that is where you look first due to the fact that everyone reads from the left to the right, so you will see it first as you scan the digipak. On the back of the digipak there is a chuck of text that looks like a credit block on a film poster, this tells you all of there copyright information. On the back there is also the universal music logo that shows you that they are the people that sponsor the CD. As this digipak is of an award evening there is not realy a message that they are trying to put across like an artist would have. I think that the target audience of the digipak is quite a range of ages as it has a wide range of featuring artists written on the front, For example a teenager may enjoy Adele but also people in there late twenties way as well. However they also have JLS under the featuring title and someone in there twenties most likely will not enjoy them. Therefore i think that this is for a wide range or ages. I also think that the target audeince for this digipak is the tourists coming over for the olypics due to the style of the digipak. The digipak gives you promises as it tells you the songs that are going to be on the discs therefore if they are not then you will end up being disapointed as you may have brought it just for that song. This digipak is sold for around £10.99 which is a reasonable prise for the amount of songs that are on it including the variety of different artists that appear on it. This digipak would have cost around £6 pounds to create so the production company are getting a reasonable profit out of it which is actually in this case going to the brit trust charity. This digipak is sold in a variety of different places from supermarkets to entertainment shops such as HMV. This digipak is also sold online at such places as amazon. This is done so that it has a variety of different audience that can get to it and buy it.

Therefore my finale thought on the digipak is that it does and gives the audience edsacually what it promises and that there is no other message that you can get from the digipak due to the fact that it dose not give aany messages in the first place. I also think that it pulls in the audience affectively and makes people want to buy the product. One of the ways that it does this is because it has the bright colors and that it is not like the other digipaks that you see around. Therefore it will jump out at you when you are looking at it in the stores.

Analysis of Red Riding Hood

The purpose of this poster is to draw the audience into the film so that then as a result the audience will then want to go and watch the film. The way that the audience is drawn into this poster as well as the film is because of the way the poster makes you feel like you are in the image yourself. This is done by the way that the trees are on the edge of the poster. This gives you the feeling that you are peeping through the spikes of the trees. The poster also makes you feel like you are in the scene due to the clearness of the girl and the angle that the image is at. This makes you feel even more like you are peeping through the trees. The poster uses the image to create an enigma around it and make the audience want to go and watch the film so that they can find out who the girl is running from and why she is running.

The poster is produced in a portrait form this adds to the feeling that you are in the poster as you get a full head to foot view. The size of this poster when it was released was A1 this is so that when you see the poster it would make you stop and look at it. This therefore means that you will stop and read the information and therefore go and watch it. The main colors that are used in the poster are whites and reds. These colors are used as the red connotes danger and evil, therefore this gives you the impression that something bad is going to happen in the film. The girl in the poster is actually wearing a Red Hooded cape, this is both a link to the title as well as giving the audience then impression that the danger is directed at her this added with the tag line of the poster leads you to the impression that the danger that is coming to her and the fact that she is running away something that this may be a wolf of some sort. The other main color that is used in the poster is white, this is both used in the clothes that she is wearing as well as it snowing so the ground is white as there is a layer of snow as well as the sky in the background being white and white spots all over representing snow drops. This white connotes innocence this give the audience the idea that even though she is being chased she is innocent and that this should not be happening. The last color which is featured in the poster is black this again gives the connotation of danger and makes the audience again think that something is bad is going to happen in the film. This makes the people who see the poster want to go and watch the film as they want to find out what is going to happen to the girl, By using these colors in the poster makes the audience get an ides of the type of film that it is going to be. Therefore they know that if they go and watch the film then they will be in for a thriller of a film. The symbol that is used in this poster is a Red coat, this is linked with the name of the film so therefore u do not have to have any other knowledge of the film to understand this.

The main image that is used in the poster is the image of the girl in the centre of the poster. This image is used to both tell you who the film is based on and who plays it but also give you this innocent impression of her that makes you want to watch the film as you dont understand why she is being followed, i.e. the poster is trying to make you feel bad for her so therefore you want to see what happens to her. This image is Photographically done this is so that it has a larger impact on the audience rather than if it was a computer generated girl as you would not be able to relate as much to the charachter as if it was photographicall then you will be able to relate to the character as it is easier to relate to. Therefore this has a large impact on you as the audience. The other image that is used is a forest/wood this is used as it has connotations to danger this adds to the danger theme running through the poster. This photohgaphical image added to the red that is used throughout the poster. This therefore means that the audience get more of an idea about what the genre of the film is going to be. These photographical images mean that the audience can be more scared or can cause more of an affect on the audience as the images are photographical and not graphically done. This helps to add to the feeling that you are in the image as if these where graphical images then you would not get that feeling from the poster, this would therefore not catch your attention to the poster as much as it dose.

The type of text that is used on this film poster gives the affect that it is written in blood, this style is used for the main title of the film, the release date and the first name of the actors and actresses. The text being in this style adds to the danger of the poster, by having them in a style that looks like blood gives then impression that the girl on the front cover may get killed in the film. This is another enigma within the poster as it makes the audience want to watch it so that they can find out what the link is with the blood. The last thing that is put in this blood red color and style is the line that says "FROM THE DIRECTOR OF TWILIGHT" this text is put in this color as it draws the viewers eyes to that line, By having this line at then top of the page it means that anyone that sees the poster and reads the line and loves the film twilight then they are more likely to want to watch the film as they will presume that this film will be just as good as what the other film is. This will therefore as a result bring in a larger audience than just those that like the idea of the film. The other color of text that is used in this film poster is white which adds to the contrast of danger and innocence, The writing that is in white is first of all a line that says "COMES A BREATHTAKING VISION OF A 700 YEAR OLD LEGEND" this is in white because of the innocence of what it is saying this is just talking about an old legend, legends are meant to be things that are not true and are just what our ancestors have told us. Therefore by putting this on the poster it means that they can pull in an even wider audience that just want to see how they have put the legend across within the film. The other two pieces of text that are in the white is the tag line and the credit block at the bottom of the page. The tag line is in white so you would presume that what is written will be an innocent statement but turns out to be what will help to get the audience in to watch the film. This tag line is used as it sticks in the viewers head and makes the audience want to go and watch the film. The last bit is then credit block this is in white as this is not important for people to read it just tells you who the director, producer and the smaller actors are. All of the text on the poster is quite small in proportion to the main image, This is done as the text is not what they want to use to draw you in they want the image and the enigma around it to be what gets you to go and see the film. However even though the text is quite small due to the colors used for them it means that you are still drawn into it even though it is small in proportion. All of the text on the poster is in bold this is to get the audiences attention as it all seems important due to the fact that it is in bold. The message within the poster is mainly visual but is added to by the text that is just. However the image is what gives across the main message due to the intensity of the image. The intensity of the poster is produced by the fact that this girl is running away from someone or something but the white makes her seem innocent this means that you get this intense feeling within it. This message is being added to by the verbal as the tag line adds to the message that it may be the wolf that is chasing the girl. So therefore i think that the message is put across by both the verbal and visual information. I think that the intended audience for this film is late teens to early twenties. The reason that i think this is one because of the actress that is playing the main part Amanda Seyfried who is well known for her part in Mamma Mia this is the type of film that this audience would know about and as a result go and see it just because they like the actress within it. Therefore by having her as the actress  they where probably hoping to get a larger audience in. This is one of the reasons that all of the emphasis is on her and there is no other actors/actresses in this poster. The other reason that i think that this is going to get the target audience is due to the fact that the film is set with a classification of 12A.

The persuasive technique that is used on this film poster to get the audience to watch the film. Is by making the audience feel like they are in the poster. The poster using this persuasive technique means that because the audience feels so involved in the film poster they then feel like they have to go and watch the film to find out what happens to the girl as they feel like they are involved in it. This is a different technique than is used by most film posters. The other persuasive technique that is used in this film poster is the writing and language used on the poster. An example of this persuasive language is "FROM THE DIRECTOR OF TWILIGHT" this is used to persuade the audience to watch the film due to the fact that they have directed this other film that you may have watched. This makes some people want to go and watch the film just because of this. On this film poster there is not any quotes used on the poster at all this shows that they have not actually shown the film to any reviewers before releasing the film poster. Attention is gained by the audience in this poster by having the poster displayed in a way that makes you feel like you are in the film, i have discussed this above. The tag line works on this film poster by having the alliteration of the "BELIEVE" and "BEWARE". This alliteration makes the tag line stick in your head.

The institution of the poster gives you  information about the fact that the film is going to be about a girl who is being abducted or chased for some reason. this institution is used as an enigma to make people go and see then film. Other things that are given away from this film poster is that the film is going to be a thriller style film that will have twists and turns within it. The other thing that you get from the poster is the feeling that if you go and watch the film then you are not only going tpo watch the film but will feel like you are in the film, this feeling is given by the fact that the poster makes you feel like you are in it too. This feeling of being in the poster is not only given by the way that the wood/forest is but by that way that you can relate to the storyline due to the charachters that are used as you can relate to it as well.

Here you can see two different places that the poster can be put and the ways that they re arrange the same poster to make it fit where they are going to put it. This could be a bus stop or a banner in the town. However they may also be in cinemas advertising the film or in different places around town centers.

Finaly i think that this is an affective poster as it makes the audience go and see the film so the poster is affective in the way that it does make the audience go and watch the film . I do not think that this poster can have anything else interpreted from it.
